Schedule:

Saturday

9:00am- 12:00pm: Intro, Demo and Q&A  and 1 hour portrait painting

1:00pm- 4:00pm: 3 hour portrait painting

 

Sunday

9:00am- 12:00pm: 1 x 6hr. Portrait or Figure Painting, Part A

1:00pm- 4:00pm: Continued from the Morning, Part B

 

 

Materials List:

-I can provide Paint, Palette, Medium, Solvent and Cups for $10 per day

 -Paintbrushes and Hardboard Panels sizes (11”x14” and 12”x 16") will also be available for purchase for the duration of the workshop.

 

Easel:

Will be provided

 

Palette:

Bring a gray palette. (You can make a gray palette by painting the back of a piece of plexiglass with gray acrylic) 

 

Brushes:

Any professional brushes in the following sizes are fine

I will have a selection of Raphael and Rosemary & Co. brushes available for purchase during the workshop

Hog Hair or Natural Bristle  (Flat and/or Filbert)    #4 (2), #6 (2) #8 (1)

Kolinsky Sable or synthetic (pointed)    #4 (1)

 

Paints:

We will use a Limited Palette, no student grade.

40ml tube or larger

Titanium White

Yellow Ochre 

Cadmium Red Light (Gamblin or Rembrandt)

Ivory Black  or Blue-Black 

 

Surface/ Support:

Bring your preferred support                

Primed Masonite (hardboard), Canvas or Linen Panels   

Stretched Canvas or Linen      

(prime with a neutral gray- gesso or acrylic)

Size: 11” x 14" or 12” x 16” 

Quantity: 2 to 3 canvases for each full day of the workshop

 

Mediums:

Linseed Oil

 

Brush Cleaner:

Gamsol

 

Additional Materials:

Two clip on metal cups for Mineral Spirits and Linseed Oil

Rags or Paper Towels

Sketchbook and Pencil (for notes and thumbnails)

On Street Parking

After you have parked. Come to the front entrance.

Call # 144 on the Intercom. 

Take elevator on the right to the 2nd Fl. 

Take right out of Elevator to Studio 207

 

Inscape Parking

  • There is limited parking for Inscape Tenants/ Guests behind the building that is accessible via the PFI parking lot on 6th Ave. S, off of Seattle Blvd. S. (see map attached) 
  • Paid parking in same parking lot as well.
  • Walk toward the gate at the fence. The code is 1354. 
  • Walk to Metal door at back of building and call me 646.296.4267
  • I will come downstairs to meet you and let you in.

 

Traveling by Metro/ Link

The International District Link stop is about a 5minute walk from the studio. 

 

Lunch

There are several places within walking distance. Uwajimaya has a foodcourt with a bunch of options.  Lunch break is an hour.
