A portrait painted with genuine attention
With every portrait I strive to create a unique and timeless work of art — and to make the process simple and enjoyable for all involved. A painting not of a face, but of a person.
"Apart from its pictorial accuracy, I feel it depicts something of my spirit, intensity, and mindset — my sense of my internal and integral experience. It's a portrait not of a face, but of a person, executed with remarkable skill… It is a highly cherished work of art in our house!"

Painting as an act of Listening
I prefer to work from live sittings and my own digital photographs. However, if you wish to provide a photo — or if it is a posthumous portrait — you can submit your image for review. I assess the quality and let you know if there is enough information to create a successful portrait.
After our initial consultation and discussion of size and pricing, we begin. The process is collaborative, unhurried, and deeply personal at every stage.
All portraits are painted in oil on stretched linen or linen board — a material chosen for its longevity and the particular quality of light it holds.
01
Initial Consultation
We explore your vision for the portrait — its mood, scale, setting, and composition. From this I prepare a formal quote and commission agreement. Once signed, we schedule the sitting.

The Commission Process
02
Sitting & Photography
A 2–3 hour studio session. I sketch the subject from life and capture high-quality photographic references, which we review together to select the most resonant composition.
03
Painting the Portrait
With references in place, I begin in the studio. Additional sittings may be scheduled to refine likeness, gesture, or mood. I remain in close touch throughout to ensure the work stays true to the original intent.
04
Final Review & Delivery
Once complete, you are invited to the studio for a final viewing — or sent high-resolution images for approval. Minor refinements can be made at this stage if needed.
