What People are Saying:

“I came to Dominique having admired her work displayed at my son's school. What followed was transformative. She instilled in me a confidence I hadn't imagined possible, and gave me tools I continue to use to this day. I painted two portraits of my own children that came out beyond anything I had dreamed.” —Deborra-lee Furness

“I immensely enjoyed your class and learned so much…the way you explain things, you have a real gift.” —Lipa Schmeltzer

“I am so grateful for your classes Dominique. Your ability to break the process down in a detailed way demystifies drawing and painting. Your honesty and humility come through on every level. Thank you!” —Rabbi Will Berkovitz

“I want to tell you how very much I appreciate and enjoy your calm and measured demeanor, your wicked and wry sense of humor, your clear vision and explanation of process and procedure- I'm loving the class” —Amanda

A very good teacher. You have a way of organizing the subject and explaining it in a way that is easy to understand and fun to digest. –Nick

“The only thing that could have made it better is to go back in time and have taken this class 50 years ago. It would have changed my life.” —Patti

“Painting has been such an important part of my life but I lost touch with it for over a decade. Your class not only helped me shake off the cobwebs but instilled a renewed passion for painting. And your class showed me some less toxic techniques (no more turpentine!), enabling me to practice in my tiny home. I am forever grateful. I learned so much and I had a blast. You're a marvelous teacher.”—Joseph

“Dominique's speed-painting portrait demonstration was crystal clear, well-paced, and thoroughly planned. Rarely do we get to enjoy truly masterful teaching of such complex processes with the clarity and well-defined procedures as we witnessed in today's demonstration. Dominique is a master--both as an artist and as a great teacher.” -Joyce

“From the luscious, inspiring demo, to the well thought out method of guiding you through techniques at a digestible pace, her instruction is insightful and empathetic. She's the rare personality of a teacher who can build your skills with joy instead of frustration.” -Jean

“Dominique’s workshop was very stimulating and challenging. Her structured approach to developing the painting really hit me and will revolutionize how I paint. No other workshop showed start to finish this way. Great job!” -Karmen

“Dominique’s teaching style makes it possible to really learn and improve. Her calm, organized approach instills confidence and she provides clear, honest and appropriate feedback and suggestions. I look forward to another class from her!” -Mary

“For a beginner, I learned the most fundamental knowledge of portrait painting from Dominique .” -Barbara

“Dominique did a remarkable demonstration of alla prima. Her painting was done in a series of mere moments. We could all watch the progression of steps, and how quickly they could - could - be done. The majority of the time she was totally available to help us. My favorite aspect was her palette: primaries and secondaries, simply organized, versatile, and good for any subject, studio or plein-air. This was dramatically different from what I have encountered before as a student. Her palette emboldens me, a watercolor painter, and now an aspiring alla prima painter! “ -Amos

“Dominique was positive and encouraging. She has a gentle teaching style that encourages you to see the concepts that you need to work on.” -Martha

“Changed my whole outlook, glad I am learning from NYC best kept secret.” -Jaron

“Thouroughly prepared. Wonderful encouraging manner. Addressed different skill levels adroitly and politely, Great job!” -Ellen

“Beginning to feel that I may actually “get this”…and relax and enjoy painting.” -Kristen

“As a first time oil painter, I’m so glad to have the type of personal attention Dominique offers.” -Carolyn

“Excellent presentation and philosophical at the same time…recommend Dominique’s class to any artist wishing to climb up the art ladder.” -John

This class really gave me the opportunity to lean the power and advantage of a limited palette. Because of this I thoroughly know the colors and compliments and how if placed correctly takes realism to the next level -Eugene

Dominique is a extremely sensitive, responsive, informative and gifted teacher. -Mary Grace

Dominique is a great instructor, who gives helpful critiques to everyone of her students while guiding them through the process of painting. Great Demos too. You are basically guaranteed to learn something in her workshop -Sarah

Dominique teaches a structured approach to painting, that while keeping you focused on the big picture aspects, takes a lot of the mystery out of oil painting. I made enormous improvements over the five sessions. Amazing value for money! -David
