Theme: Back to Basics — Portrait & Figure
This month we’ll complete two paintings: a two-week portrait study and a two-week figure study. Through step-by-step demos, critiques, and guided practice, you’ll strengthen your color mixing, likeness, and brushwork while working with a luminous limited palette.
This class follows a clear, systematic 4-step process using a seven-color primary palette. You’ll deepen your understanding of hue, value, and chroma while painting from a variety of portrait and figure references. Each week Dominique demonstrates and narrates her process, and students receive critiques.
Open to all levels (basic drawing skills recommended). Anyone eager to learn and put in the practice is welcome. With a focus on accurate color mixing and creating likeness, you’ll develop your ability to paint what you see within a limited time frame, taking your skills to the next level.
Need to miss a lesson? No problem. All demos and critiques are recorded and uploaded by 5pm PT, with lifetime access to videos.
Tuition: $200 (Beginner-Intermediate)
