What colors does one use to mix skin tones, and how can one mix realistic flesh tones consistently? This workshop is an exploration of that question. We will work from both models and photographs and spend the weekend talking about color theory,  discussing the relationships between hue, value and temperature and practice mixing flesh tones. We will work with a systematic technique that is designed to help us understand how to mix any color in only a few steps.

I will start with a demo and break down the process of painting into clear and consecutive steps. I will critique and instruct each session. We will be using a limited palette -- a Chromatic palette of only 7 colors; Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Light, Quinacridone Red, Cobalt Teal, Ultramarine Blue and Ivory Black. This palette is very dynamic and will refine our understanding of color relationships. Practicing this way over the course of the weekend will help to sharpen your observation, and take your skill to a new level.
