Tuition: $125

Beginner/ All Levels Welcome

Course Outline:

Silverpoint is a beautiful and subtle drawing media that employs the use of sterling silver stylus to draw on hand prepared paper. This technique is exemplified in the drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci and Raphael. Working with this unique process gives us a taste of the experience of Renaissance masters and insight into the way materials have evolved into what we use today.

  • We will make our own Silverpoint Stylus with a wooden dowel and sterling silver (which you can keep)

  • We will make hand prepared toned paper as described by Cennino Cennini in, Il libro dell'arte.

  • We will try various exercises working with silverpoint and white chalk/charcoal

  • Finally, we will make a small drawing.

Dominique will demonstrate each process and work with each individual throughout the day. This workshop is a unique opportunity and experience and we hope you can join in.
