Theme: Blocking in with Value and Color
We return to the fundamentals that make a painting sing, this time exploring two new approaches: the wipe-out method and value blocking. Rather than working through the four steps individually, we’ll combine them into two broader stages—establishing proportion and value together, then bringing the painting to life through color and edge. This allows the painting to develop more fluidly while maintaining the reliable structure of our process.
Working from a limited palette, you’ll strengthen your eye for value, mix convincing color, and develop a strong sense of likeness. Each week includes a narrated live demonstration and individual critique, and by the end of the month, you’ll have completed two paintings. All levels are welcome.
Open to all levels; basic drawing skills recommended.
